Sebastian Montesi has been boxing at Contenders since 2005. In 2010, Kevin Reynolds and Richard Pelcz invited him to become an instructor and personal trainer at Contenders. Boxing highlights:

Sebastian is a Boxing BC Level 1 Certified Coach and is a BCRPA certified Personal Trainer.

Yo Kotsubo

Yo Kotsubo

Trainer

Yo Kotsubo’s passion for fitness and personal training began with her training career in Tae Kwon Do. In 2008, Yo started boxing and later became part of the Contenders team. Yo believes in creating a supportive environment for everyone who trains at Contenders so that they can learn from each other and also push each other to train harder.

Boxing highlights:

Yo is a Boxing BC Certified Coach, has her Active Isolated Stretching certification, and graduate from the Douglas College Sports Science program.

CAITLIN WEBSTER

CAITLIN WEBSTER

Trainer

Caitlin joined Contenders in 2011 as a member. Her hard work and passion for training earned her the title of Contender of The Month for June 2012. We are excited to have her at our Beginner Boxing Class on Friday mornings as the instructor where she will be sharing her knowledge and experience that she has gained through 10+ years of training at Contenders.

TRIVIA: Caitlin has a red hair cat named Canelo.

GEOFF COOPER

GEOFF COOPER

Trainer

Geoff Cooper, or ‘Coop’ as most members call him, started training at Contenders in 2015 with no intentions on a career in fitness. After a major lifestyle shift he is now certified as both a personal trainer and health coach and works with a variety of clients. Geoff started covering classes in the boxing gym in 2020 and now runs our circuit training camp on Saturday mornings. He has a particular interest in using fitness to support mental health and working with clients looking to make their own changes in lifestyle and general well being. Outside of the gym he can often be found paddleboarding or running the trails in Stanley Park.

MAX MONTESI

MAX MONTESI

Trainer

With over 10 years of experience boxing at Contenders, Max is one of our most long-standing members. Max always encourages our members to keep an open mind about learning new skills, whether that’s in a Boxing Fundamentals class or in a Sparring class. Assisting and teaching classes has also provided Max with a medium for him to continually learn from his peers at Contenders. His dedication to continually improving his technique has led him to be a go-to person for any boxing-related questions. Max uses his experience to help our members develop their skills so they can become more confident boxers.
